Fall Deck Maintenance

Now is the perfect time to talk about deck maintenance.

While the leaves changing is a beautiful sight, the debris on your deck could leave an unwanted lasting impression. While a composite deck is lower maintenance than a traditional wood deck, there are a few things to keep in mind for general care of an outdoor surface. Today we’ll share some tips to make sure your deck stays beautiful for years to come.

Remove Dirt and Debris

  • Remove any leaves or debris with a broom or leaf blower

  • Spray loose debris off with a garden hose

  • If you experience staining from leaves or seeds, try spot cleaning with a soft bristle brush and soapy water.

Removing debris within a week of it falling on your deck prevents staining and reduces the possibility that you will need to get out a brush and scrub.

Food and Drink Spills

  • Clean all spills as soon as possible.

  • Wash the spot with warm soapy water and a soft bristle brush.

    • Trex has a 25 year warranty against staining, but only if the spill was removed within 7 days.
